Stephen Clancy, Professor of Art History, delivered a lecture entitled, "Constructing the Self, Imagining the Other: Negotiating Visual Culture in Medieval Iberia," as part of the 2010 Work-in-Progress Seminar Series at the Research School of Humanities and the Arts (RSHA) at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.
The talk was delivered on May 21st as part of Clancy’s 12-week Humanities Research Centre Visiting Fellowship at the RSHA, during which he is conducting research for the project, "Visualizing the Self and Others: Muslims, Jews, and Christians in Medieval Iberia."
On May 28th, Clancy presented a talk on, "The Roots of Sephardic Visual Culture: Jewish Art and Architecture in Medieval Iberia," to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Jewish Community at the Canberra Jewish Community Centre.
