When was the last time you took a walk at lunch or on a break? Whether you’re located to the North, South, East or West side of campus, there are many places to walk and enjoy a break from your workstation. According to www.walkinginfo.org, “Regular exercise provides the opportunity for health benefits … such as a stronger heart, [and] a more positive mental outlook…”
Check out some of the great places to walk and relax that we have here on campus!
A Walk for a Cause: It is time again for IC Hope’s annual walk to help fight against cancer. The money raised supports research, some of which is done right here in Tompkins County! Visit their webpage for more information or even join the cause, at: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY10EA?team_id=559497&pg=team&fr_id=20923&fl=en_US&et=F5uJRj5POXjee-RgyvHMRg..&s_tafId=517303
A Walk to Water: Visit the fountain near Dillingham or the pond near the chapel. Enjoy the wildlife, shade and a peaceful spot to think or be in the sun.
A Walk in the Woods: Did you know that there are walking trails behind the Terraces? Take a brief hike through the woods and enjoy the shade and change of scenery. A trail map is located on Recreational Sports’ website: https://www.ithaca.edu/sacl/recsports/news/3940/.
A Walk to the Garden: An on-campus community garden is being set up by the Organic Growers of Ithaca College, located by the Office of Facilities near the barn. Stop by and see their progress on the walking trail, enjoy the picnic table (coming soon!) and see the vegetables grow! To participate in the garden or support it through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), contact GardenIC@gmail.com.
Work/Life: We believe in the integration of work and life outside of work.
