You may have noticed over the past few months there have been some significant changes in Facilities. In addition to what has been posted in Intercom by Rick Couture on June 14th we have also been doing some reorganizing that we hope will help utilize our talents better and save the college time and money.
First I am pleased to announce that Mark Darling is now the Sustainability Coordinator for Facilities. He will be help Facilities and the entire campus community develop and implement programs that are fiscally, socially and environmentally responsible. Mark has had a long history at IC informing, educating and initiating programs that have helped to make us a leader in environmentally responsible thinking and action.
Secondly, we have moved some areas of responsibility around that we believe makes us more efficient. Grounds and Transportation has taken over the operational side of solid waste, composting and recycling. If you have any questions regarding the program we encourage you to continue to drop Mark Darling an email at mdarling @ithaca.edu, he will still be programmatically handling this responsibility.
Thirdly, Furniture has moved under Facilities Services. The team of furniture movers that once was housed with John Robertson under Planning Design and Construction has now been combined with the Event Team. The new Coordinator overseeing the newly combined Furniture Setup & Event Crew is David Heichel, who is also overseeing Academic I Facilities Attendants. David is a strong leader who sees much potential in combining the areas.
We are excited about these very recent changes, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to email me at lbelokur@ithaca.edu.
