Patricia Zimmermann was recently an invited speaker at the China and the West: Cosmopolitics, Memory, and Visual Media in the 21 St Century international symposium at Hong Kong University June 11 and 12, 2011.
Zimmermann's lecture was entitled "Towards a Theory of Viral Witnessing," an examination of the ethics, politics, and theoretical models of social media and user generated content for international human rights advocacy and documentation.
Zimmermann is currently serving as the Shaw Foundation Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She is also codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival in the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies and professor of cinema at Ithaca College.
