Ithaca College is #2 in the Great Radio Station category according to Princeton Review’s 2011 edition of “The Best 373 Colleges.” Ithaca has two student-operated stations — 92 WICB and VIC Radio, based in the Roy H. Park School of Communications.
Since 2003, Ithaca has been ranked in the top 10 of the “Best Radio Station” category, reaching the #1 spot in 2010.
"Our consistent ranking at the top of this list speaks to the great work the staffs of both WICB and VIC radio do year in and year out,” said Robertson Engelsman ’11, WICB Station Manager. “Dropping to number two will serve as a strong motivator for all of us in the next 12 months to ensure that the top spot is reclaimed for 2012."
WICB is on the air 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and broadcasts at 91.7 FM. It can also be heard via streaming audio at wicb.org. Programming includes modern rock, jazz and urban, with news, Ithaca College sports and many long-running specialty programs. VIC, the college's Internet radio station, is in operation during the academic year. The format consists of infectious indie-pop, with live DJs and no commercials. VIC also features news, Ithaca College sports and weekend specialty programs ranging from 60s hits to metal. VIC's premiere event, the 50-Hour Marathon, takes place each spring. WICB and VIC also have iPhone apps.
