In what ways should we seek to improve human life? Who decides? Explore these questions and how to use systems thinking to combine disciplinary expertise. Block I, MW4-5:15.

Designer Genes is the first section of ICIC 12000 Insight: Combining Expertise, a set of experimental mini-courses designed to help you integrate what you learn across courses inside and outside of your major. A series of guests will look at the same topic—in this case, designer genes—from the perspectives of their disciplines. Guests include:

Susan Swensen & Marina Caillaud, Biology

Stewart Auyash, Health Promotion & Physical Education

Tatiana Patrone & Rick Kaufman, Philosophy & Religion

Tom Shevory, Politics

Mark Cordano, Management

We’ll apply systems thinking to compare, contrast, and integrate their perspectives.
