Ithaca Carshare - Special Rate for IC Students

Ithaca Carshare is a local carsharing service with over a dozen vehicles scattered around the city. There is even an Ithaca Carshare vehicle right here on campus, in a designated parking spot conveniently located near the Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise. Unlike most car rental programs, Ithaca Carshare membership is open to students 18 and over (although additional insurance requirements may apply). Ithaca Carshare is a membership-based service that provides 24/7 access to vehicles on an hourly basis. 

As an Ithaca Carshare member, you reserve a car on the web or over the phone. You unlock the car with a special keyfob or keycard, drive it around as if it were your own vehicle, then return it to the same location where you picked it up, re-lock the vehicle with your fob or card, and leave it for the next carshare member’s use. Your usage time and mileage are electronically tracked and your credit card is automatically charged.

Members pay an hourly and mileage rate for use of the Ithaca Carshare car; members are not charged additional fees for gas, insurance, maintenance, cleaning, or permanent parking. Ithaca College has worked with Ithaca Carshare to offer special rates to Ithaca College students.

For Fall 2010, the special Ithaca Carshare IC student rate is:

$15 one-time application fee
"It’s My Car” plan: $4.95 per hour; 20¢ per mile
You receive $5 in free driving credit with your membership

As an Ithaca Carshare member, you may also be eligible to use independent carshares in other cities.
