Professor Goodhew Romm to play baroque bassoon at Stetson University

Lee Goodhew Romm, on baroque bassoon, will collaborate in a Faculty/Guest Baroque Recital at Stetson University School of Music.  The program also features Dr. Ann Adams, baroque oboe; Dr. Tammara Phillips, baroque flute; David Bjella, cello; and Dr. Boyd Jones, harpsichord. The concert will be Friday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Lee Chapel in Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., Stetson University, DeLand, Florida.

This summer, Goodhew Romm attended the 39th Annual Baroque Performance Institute at Oberlin College for a week of intensive study of performance practices and the techniques of playing the baroque bassoon. She studied with prominent baroque bassoonist Dominic Teresi, of Tafelmusic and the Julliard Early Music Program. At the workshop, she also became reacquainted with Stetson University Professor of Oboe Ann Adams, who will be performing baroque oboe in the concert.

Works to be performed include Jean Baptiste Loeillet (1680-1730), Sonata for Flute, Oboe, and Basso Continuo, Opus No. 4; Giovanni Benedetto Platti (1697-1763), Sonata for Oboe, Bassoon, and Basso Continuo; Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695-1704), Sonata No. 1 for Flute and Basso Continuo; George Frederic Handel (1685-1759), Sonata for Oboe in G Minor, Opus No. 6; Johann Kuhnau (1660-1722), Sonata No. 4 for Harpsichord – Hiskia agonizzante e risanato; and Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767), Quartet No. 1 in D Major.
