Study Abroad Scholarships

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and The Boren Scholarship provide excellent funding opportunties for study abroad.  If you are considering going abroad, you may want to consider applying for one of these awards! 

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Gilman Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and who wish to study abroad. Students may apply for programs worldwide, though preference will be given to applications for programs outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.  The application deadline is October 5 for spring 2011 programs.

Boren Scholarships

Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.  Boren Scholars represent a variety of academic backgrounds, but all are interested in studying less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.

Application deadline is February 10, 2011 for study during the 2011-12 academic year.
