Sustainability Café on Monday, September 20th looks at "Turning Garbage into Greenbacks"

The Sustainability Café on Monday, September 20th will feature Susan McIntyre from the Delaware County Solid Waste division speaking on "Turning Garbage into Greenbacks: A Career in Waste Management."  The Café will be held in the Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 from 4:00-5:00PM. This event is free and open to the public.

Susan McIntyre is the Director of the Delaware County Department of Public Works - Solid Waste Division. Since 1995, she has helped to move the County's solid waste program toward an expanded level of services. The County’s solid waste program currently includes a mixed solid waste and biosolids composting facility, conventional recycling center, MSW landfill, C&D processing, fleet of transfer trucks, and most recently the start-up of a landfill gas fired electricity generation station developed in cooperation with the Delaware County Electric Cooperative. Ms. McIntyre has earned various nicknames, including "garbage nut" and "tire chip queen".

The Fall 2010 Sustainability Café series is being held in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar.

“Teachable edibles” – local, organic and/or seasonal snacks – for the Fall 2010 Sustainability Café series are being sponsored by Ithaca College Dining Services whose motto is “Sustainability – Healthy – Fresh.”  Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the nearest drinking fountain or provide your own beverage of choice.
