Performance times are as follow: 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 and continue on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 - 3, and Oct. 6 - 9 with 2 p.m. matinees 3 and 9. All performances will be held in the Clark Theatre in Dillingham Center.

Electra’s life has been one of violence and loneliness. Clytemnestra, Electra’s ruthless mother, has killed her husband and abandoned the family to be with her lover. Electra’s beloved brother, Orestes, is missing, and Electra is heavy with despair. However, when Orestes reveals himself and reaches out to her aid, the two quickly devise a plan to murder their mother and her lover. As director Susannah Berryman states, “the violent acts trace backward through the generations, and each new generation feels justified in answering blood with blood.”
The set of this tale of revenge, designed by student Lawrence Moten ’12, suggests no particular place or time. Though the tragedy is nearly 3,000 years old, “Electra” continues to comment on how the values we teach affect the world.
The cast includes Morgan Lavenstein ’11 as Electra, Miles Crosman ’12 as the old man, Richard Lindenfelzer ’13 as Orestes, and Emma Poole ’11 as Clytemnestra. Costumes are designed by Kathryn Vega ’11, lights by Kaleigh Boshart ’12, and sound by Rachel Viniar ’11.
A nationally recognized professional theatre training program, the Department of Theatre Arts attracts students from across the United States. Throughout the production season, undergraduate students present all aspects of theatre in a professional model. Ithaca College Theatre has been an active part of the Tompkins County cultural hub as well as the Finger Lakes region for 70 years.
