IC Intercambios is a student organization focused on helping Spanish-speaking migrant farm workers who wish to learn English. Many of these workers live on farms just outside of Ithaca and the inability to speak English can lead to many difficulties: going to the grocery store, dealing with the authorities, obtaining a driver's license, etc. Students travel in pairs or groups to farms that are typically 20-30 minutes away and give informal one and a half hour ESL lessons to the workers. Fluency in Spanish is not a requirement though proficiency in the language does help. IC Intercambios mewts every Thursday at 5:30 pm in Friends 205 in addition to the travel to the farm.
