In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act [20 USC 1092(f)],
otherwise known as the “Clery Act”, the Office of Public Safety is responsible for preparing, publishing and distributing an annual report by October 1 of each year, for the purpose of disclosing and disseminating certain information regarding campus crime statistics, security policies and campus law enforcement. This information is made public by way of the 2010 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. Recent and continued amendments to this federal law add provisions dealing with information contained in the publication, including but not limited to, statements about emergency preparedness and response, campus law enforcement policies, campus security education and prevention programs, alcohol and drug policies, sexual assault education and prevention programs, procedures for reporting sexual assaults, procedures for handling reports of sexual assault, provisions and statistical data related to fire safety (in campus residential facilities) and various other institutional policies related to campus safety and security.
