Students Studying Jobs and Wellness - Seeking Volunteers

10/04/10

Contributed by Stephen Sweet

Student researchers are seeking volunteers for a study that they are performing on job designs, wellness, and work-family well-being.  This project is part of the  Ithaca College Wellness Initiative supported by the IC2 project grants.

The project goals are to find out how jobs impact family lives and to identify programs or practices that might enhance work satisfaction at Ithaca College.  We are seeking volunteers who would be willing to share their perspectives.    By studying the information provided by Ithaca College employees, we hope to understand the forces that give shape to work and family conflict, as well as identify means of improving job designs on campus and beyond.

What is involved?  To be eligible, participants need to be employed by Ithaca College.  We especially seek employees who are employed in/as:

Professors

Administrators

Administrative Assistants

Coaches/Trainers

Technicians

Librarians

Food Service

Maintenance/Grounds

Campus Security

Postal Services

Participants will engage in face to face interviews that last approximately 20-30 minutes.  Questions will focus on how work affects family life and how family responsibilities might impact job performance.  The responses provided will be summarized in a form that would shield individual identities and participants would not be identifiable in papers or presentations.

If you would be interested in participating in this study, please contact Stephen Sweet at ssweet@ithaca.edu and he will arrange an interview with a student researcher.
