Music faculty honors at New York State Music Teachers Association conference.

Deborah Martin, Associate Professor of Performance Studies, presented a lecture at the New York State Music Teachers Association conference held in Albany, New York, October 15 - 17, 2010.  The title of her presentation was "Practical Piano Skills for the Music Educator: I've Got an App For That!"  

In conjunction with the conference, two state-level competitions were held and four students studying with Ithaca College faculty were awarded first place in their divisions.  Lowell Jackson, a sophomore at Ithaca High School, and a student of Martin, won first place in the Empire State High School Piano Competition.  Forest Tong, a junior in high school and a student of IC professor Jennifer Hayghe, won first place in the MTNA State High School Competition.  Matthew Gillen, Junior in Performance and Music Education and student of IC professor Pablo Cohen, won first place in the Empire State Collegiate Instrumental Competition.  And finally, Louis Xavier-Bussieres, a student at Lansing Middle School and student of Cohen, won the Empire State Junior Instrumental Competition.
