From the editors of The Ithacan:

Wednesday, Oct. 27, is the final day to participate in The Ithacans employee satisfaction survey. The Ithacan is conducting the survey to learn how employees at the college feel about their jobs and the workplace. We encourage all administrators, faculty and staff to participate.

To complete The Ithacans survey, please go to http://theithacan.org/3468 or The Ithacan’s homepage at theithacan.org. RESPONSES ARE ANONYMOUS AND PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN ANY WAY. The complete results of the survey will be reported in an upcoming issue of The Ithacan.

After learning the college was not ranked in a 2010 survey rating the best institutions of higher education to work for, The Ithacan decided to launch this survey to gain a more comprehensive understanding as to why the college would not have been ranked.

The college chose to participate in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to Work For” survey this year to better evaluate employee satisfaction. The college was not named a great college to work for in the survey results, and President Tom Rochon said the results of the survey would not be released directly to the community, although they would be discussed at the January all-college faculty and staff meeting.

The results of The Ithacan’s survey may be used for a future story and help foster a dialogue about how to become a great college to work for. We intend these results to generate an open discussion about workplace conditions at the college and how greater employee satisfaction can be reached.

We encourage all employees to contact us at ithacan@ithaca.edu if they would like to provide further input beyond their survey responses.
