Our goal was to collect 230 units for both days; we meet our goal and some!!!
October 5th, 112 regular units of Blood were collected with 27 Double Reds for a total count of 139 units. October 6th, 133 regular units of Blood were collected with 35 Double Reds, for a total of 168 units. That means that we were able to collect 307 units total for both days. That means we saved a total of 921 lives were with our Blood drive.
Cortland was able to collect 58 units, so we won by a land slide with our 307 units.
Thank you to all who help out!!!!!!!!
Here is a poem to the donors for all that they give:
No badge of service do they wear,
They live as heroes unaware
They roll up their sleeves to give
Their blood to help another live.
They give without return or fee
In simple answer to a plea.
That flush of health again may glow
On cheeks of one they’ll never know.
Their blood a newborn babe may save,
From yawning brink of early grave,
That child so weak and small today,
A hero’s role may later play.
Or one, a prey to accident,
By their life’s blood new strength is lent.
Their blood may help a surgeon’s knife
To bridge the gap from death to life.
Thought none of these will now their names,
Nor see them carved on wall of fame,
But we who toil that all may live,
A hearty, Humble Thank You give.
