Ms. Vanchiswar’s travelogue begins on Bill Clinton’s jogging path in Chappaqua, NY, journeys to the orphanages of India – where thousands of HIV- infected children strive to thrive-and brings you back home to reflect on the definition of hope and the imperative to commit to one’s cause.
Shobha Vanchiswar is a writer, poet, artist, and award-winning garden designer in Westchester, NY. Her recent book of poems The Lucky Ones was inspired by her visit to orphanages in India that house HIV-infected children. The Clinton Foundation, which facilitated her tour, provides the drugs so critical to sustaining the lives of these children through its AIDS initiative, and the proceeds of Ms. Vanchiswar’s book are dedicated completely to the Clinton AIDS initiative.
