This workshop will demonstrate ways for faculty and students to connect and collaborate when classes don’t meet face-to-face. It will address questions such as: How can you make online teaching more personable? What techniques can bring students closer to the subject matter and to each other? How can online teaching technology support your unique teaching approach? Bring your questions and ideas.

Guest speakers
Yvette Rubio (independent organizational development consultant; online instructor for higher educational institutions including, Ithaca College) will talk about "presence" and what it means in the online environment, what it feels and looks like, and how it can be created.
Mara Alper (Associate Professor, Park School of Communications/Television-Radio) will demonstrate facilitating effective discussion techniques among students and visiting guest experts, as well as techniques for incorporating varied media using her interdisciplinary, online course “Water = Life” as a model.
Marilyn Dispensa (Instructional Technology Coordinator, ITS) will give an overview of tools for delivering course content, managing assessments, mediating communication and managing course logistics. She will also highlight key issues in transitioning from face-to-face to online courses and synchronous vs. asynchronous teaching and learning.
