Native American Celebration Month 2010 is here!

Ithaca College celebrates Native American Month with an exciting slate of events from hip hop and art to identity and politics beginning Oct. 18th and continuing through Nov. 18.

** Nov. 6th at 8pm "Metamorphosis of Hip Hop" with Native American Hip Hop Artist Plex who will perform in IC Square (downstairs cafeteria) in the Phillips Student student union. Sponsored by the African Latino Society, Native American Studies and OSEMA.

** Nov. 9th at 4:00 pm in the second floor hallway of Williams Hall (** note this is a change from previously advertised location of Friends Hall) artist Eli Thomas will dedicate the mural he painted with Ithaca College students representing Native perspectives and Ithaca landscapes. Eli will speak about his art and life at 7pm in Williams 218.

** Nov. 11th Field Trip to Canandaigua Treat Day, Canadaigua NY departing at approx. 10am. Contact Jack Rossen to reserve a seat in the van or for more details at jrossen@ithaca.edu or 607-274-3326.

** Nov. 18th at 7pm Native American Student Identity Panel with Hollie Kulago, Pre-Doctoral Fellow in Residence Anthropology-Education. Klingenstein Lounge, Egbert Student Union, Ithaca College.

Oct. 18th at 4pm Robin Kimmerer (SUNY-ESF) spoke on "Restoration and Reciprocity: Finding Common Ground between Scientific and Tradional Ecological Knowledge" as part of the Sustainability Cafe series. Center for Natural Sciences room 112.

Nov. 1st at 6-8pmpm Angela Gonzales spoke about the Smithsonian exhibit and film  "IndiVisible - African-Native American Lives in the Americas" at the Tomkins County Library Borg Warner Room, sponsored by Multicultural Resource Center http://multicultural-resource.org/
