Time and again student organizations and alumni have asked why there has never been an Ithaca College mascot. Well, your voices have been heard! Ithaca College has begun the process of selecting an official mascot, and we need your help.
We don’t know what shape our mascot will take—animal, vegetable, mineral, human, mythical creature, etc.—but we do know that its name will be Bomber in honor of the long-standing nickname bestowed upon IC athletics. We also know that our new mascot needs to live up to its moniker by embodying the incredible energy, passion, and strength that is Ithaca College!
Help us shape IC history by submitting your suggestions for the new mascot. Review the mascot guidelines, put on your thinking caps, and, after Thanksgiving break, send in your suggestions! Submissions will be accepted through the first week of January, and those who suggested the chosen mascot will be recognized. We want all your ideas, anything from fierce, fire-breathing animals to insidious insects. Just be sure to include your rationale for why you think your idea will make the perfect mascot for IC and fuel fresh school pride.
All Ithaca College constituents—from accepted and current students to alumni, faculty, and staff—will be invited to participate and provide feedback throughout the selection process in the spring, and a formal Mascot Selection Task force will be created to oversee the details of the search process.
Visit the Ithaca College Mascot website and follow the search on Twitter @ICMascot for more details and stay up-to-date on the selection process as we narrow it down to our final mascot prospect.
Here's to the next era of Ithaca College pride!
