The Oracle Honor Society, Ithaca College’s first-year academic honor society, inducted 202 new members in a special ceremony at the Emerson Suites on Monday evening, November 15. Founded in 1928, the Oracle Honor Society’s membership includes students who represent the top 10% of each school throughout their first full academic year.
The Oracle Honor Society is founded upon the symbol of the star. The five points represent the attributes of excellence for which members of Oracle aspire: Scholarship, Leadership, Loyalty, Service, and Character. The laurel wreath around the star represents the achievements of Oracle members. The wall represents the courage and fortitude shown in order to achieve the ideals of the society, and the light is a beacon for Oracle members in the future. The olive branch is the emblem of peace -- the talisman for all Oracle members.
The Oracle Honor Society would like to thank Oracle Board members Amanda Riggio-Chair, Darielle Grossman-Chair, Samuel Patton, Sean Killian, Andie Scott, Kirsten Quinn, Francine Price, Monique DeLuca and Kevin Fry for their hard work during the ceremony.
In addition, the Oracle Honor Society would like to recognize Student Leadership Consultants Luiggi Ramos, Scott Nachlis, William Sleight, and Zena Patel all of whom made this event possible.
