About the symposium

Started in 2010, the Symposium is organized by the Finger Lakes Faculty Development Network (FLFDN) as a part of Ithaca College’s annual Educational Technology Day.  The sessions will present innovations in, and best practices for, using both common and new technologies for teaching and learning, as well as scholarship assessing the effect of technology on student learning. Anyone may submit a proposal for a Symposium session. Guidelines, and a link to the proposal submission form, follow.

Educational Technology Day is a twenty-year-old regional event at Ithaca College that attracts over 1,600 people annually from the upstate New York region. Primarily oriented to technology in higher education, the free event is a showcase for national and local hardware and software vendors demonstrating their latest technology with an emphasis on its use by faculty, staff, and students. Registration for Ed Tech Day is free and open to all, whether or not they are involved in the Symposium. Please visit the Ed Tech Day website at https://www.ithaca.edu/edtechday/ for complete program information and to register (registration starts in mid-January).

The Finger Lakes Faculty Development Network is a new organization linking people involved in faculty development at campuses in central and western New York. Bi-monthly meetings rotate among member campuses or through web conferencing. Anyone interested in being involved in FLFDN should contact Sarah Cass at the Rochester Institute of Technology, who maintains the communication network at present, at sarah.cass@rit.edu
