All classrooms needed for NCUR March 31 and April 1

Reminder & clarification for faculty:  as you finalize your spring semester syllabi, please keep in mind that we will be hosting the National Conference for Undergraduate Research here on campus on Thursday, March 31 and Friday, April 1.  All of our general-purpose classrooms, although not labs and other specialized instructional spaces, will be needed for IC students and visiting undergraduate researchers to make their conference presentations on these dates.

Please note that classes are not cancelled on March 31 or April 1; faculty who would ordinarily be teaching in general-purpose classrooms are asked to plan alternatives outside those spaces for their students on these dates.  Faculty are particularly encouraged to use the NCUR sessions themselves in that planning.  Student researchers will be making poster presentations and holding conference sessions on topics related to the great majority of the subject areas taught in IC courses, and all of these NCUR poster presentations and sessions are available to our students free of charge.  Although the NCUR conference appears on the academic calendar for March 30 as well, this will be a registration day rather than a presentation day, so all classroom spaces will be available as usual on Wednesday, March 30.

If you are not sure whether your usual teaching space is a general-purpose classroom or a specialized one, or if you have other questions/concerns about this announcement, please contact IC's NCUR event coordinator Linda Callahan at 607-564-7054 or lcallahan@ithaca.edu
