Bobbi Sims the Supervisor for Facilities Services 2nd shift is entering a new chapter in her life when she retires next week after 41 years of service to Ithaca College. Bobbi has served under 5 Presidents starting back in 1970 with President Dillingham. Bobbi has seen many changes over the past four decades including the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment in 1972. Bobbi started here in the days of IC when woman could only work 37.5 hours (unlike their male couterparts who worked 40 hrs. a week) and were forced to wear "feminine attire" or a.k.a. skirts. Women in Facilities were also not allowed to operate any cleaning equipment which resulted in difference in both title and pay between the men and the women. It was Bobbi who first demanded equal treatment, showed the men she could operate anything they could and helped change policy that ushered in a new era where women could wear pants, work a full 40 hour week and receive equal pay. Bobbi's new adventure will be spending more time with her family especially her grandkids. We will miss her.
