The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) was invited to Middlesex University in London to present a special seminar on its innovations beyond a traditional film festival, focusing on new media, performance, and WSeb 2.0 on January 27.
Patricia Zimmermann, co-director of FLEFF and professor of cinema, photography and media arts, delivered a formal lecture and a workshop on how FLEFF works in multi-platformed arenas to open up and expand dcefinitions of the environment within an international dialogue.
She presented the Open Space project from 2009-2010, including blogs, social media contests, and online digital art exhibitions. She also discussed the conceptual models motivating FLEFF's commissions of original silent fily/live music products, discussing the relationship between archives, new music, new technologies, and emerging performance strategies.
The 2011 edition of FLEFF explores the theme of Checkpoints and runs April 10-17, 2011. The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival is housed in the Office of the Provost at Ithaca College.
