Join Food for Thought and Stop Wasting Ithaca’s Food Today (SWIFT) for the Ithaca College Hunger Banquet on February 22, 2011 at 6 p.m. in Emerson Suites. The Hunger Banquet will illustrate the inequalities in our world through an interactive event.
Guests will randomly draw a ticket that will assign them to high-, middle-, or low- income tier based on current statistics. The 15 percent in the high-income tier are served a three course meal, the 35 percent in the middle-income tier are served a simple meal of rice and beans, and the the 50 percent low-income tier help themselves to small portions of rice and water.
The event is free, but non-perishable food donations will be accepted for the Tompkins County Food Distribution Network. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the Ithaca community are invited to attend. Participants are encouraged to RSVP here. Only 100 participants will be served a meal, so sign up to guarantee your spot at the event. Participants who do not sign up can still attend, but will be admitted on a first come first serve basis, until there are 100 participants.
