Imagine an 85 degree day with bright blue skies, green foliage everywhere you look, and just a touch of humidity in the air. You are imagining August in Ithaca and believe it or not it is not far off.
We will welcome the class of 2015 to campus in late August, and I hope you will join me in being part of that welcome. One form of welcome that our new students and their families especially appreciate is staff and faculty assistance on move-in day, August 28. IC volunteers can make the process of getting settled on campus easier and less intimidating for our new students, and create a powerful first impression of our student-centered culture at the same time. We need volunteers to welcome students and their families to campus, to offer directions, to help unload cars and to assist in moving student belongings into their rooms.
This assistance makes a real difference and provides a warm welcome to the Ithaca College community. Even if carrying student belongings up stairs is not your cup of tea, you can make a big difference by answering questions and providing a warm and welcoming “hello!”
I hope you’ll join me in being a part of this exciting and eventful day! More specific information will be forthcoming on the volunteer responsibilities, but please mark your calendars now and contact Lynne Pierce at lpierce@ithaca.edu to enlist as a volunteer. Lynne can also answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the student-centered culture of Ithaca College.
