VIC Radio is planning its 25th annual 50-Hour Marathon for April 15-17. Junior Adam Girgenti and senior Mike D’Agostino will be forgoing sleep for 50 straight hours to raise money for Ithaca Community Harvest, while broadcasting at various locations around town.

VIC’s 50-Hour Marathon has raised over $10,000 for various local not-for-profits in the past three years alone. From its humble beginnings as a simple bowling party to the station’s biggest event of the year, 50-Hour Marathon is a fun-filled way to make a difference in the community.

Organizations that have received Marathon proceeds in the past include the EOC Emergency Food Pantry, AIDSWork of Tompkins County and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

This year’s beneficiary is Ithaca Community Harvest, an organization dedicated to providing children of low-income families with fresh, local produce to balance their diets.

To help raise money, various events will be take place around town during the weekend, such as a Battle of the Bands in Ithaca College’s IC Square.

VIC’s 50-Hour Marathon will be on VIC Radio beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 15 and concluding at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17. Listeners can access the live stream at www.vicradio.org. The entire weekend will be simulcast on WICB (91.7) and ICTV, Time-Warner channel 16.
