Come study the art and architecture of our nation’s capital during a two-week intensive art history course entitled “Public Art and Architecture of Washington, DC.”

This course will focus on the visual rhetoric of American art in public spaces.  Classes will be held “on site” at various museums on the National Mall such as the Smithsonian museums and the National Gallery of Art.  However, this course will move beyond the well-visited tourist areas.  We will explore the city as a whole as we visit lesser-known museums and sites off the beaten path to investigate the significance of the visual and built environment on both national and local scales. This course is intended for a general undergraduate audience and will also hold special appeal for students interested in art, architecture, visual culture, history, and politics.  There are no prerequisites for this short-term Ithaca in Washington, DC offering.

You must register by April 1, 2011.   Tuition is $3024 for 3 credits.

Come to an information session on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 6 pm in Room G069 of the Peggy R. Williams Building.  Refreshments will be served.
