Park Productions, in a partnership with the Finger Lakes Wine Country and the Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau, is launching “Finger Lakes Uncorked!” a series of short comedies to be streamed online.

The viral launch will take place on Sunday, April 10 with a premiere at the opening night of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF). The event takes place at Cinemapolis, located downtown, at 7 p.m. Audience members will participate in the launch by using mobile devices to connect with their friends to promote the series on social media networks. Producers, directors, and actors will introduce the episodes and answer questions at the screening. A gala reception follows at the Finger Lakes Wine Center. The series will launch for viewing at www.uncorked.parkproductions.org on the same day.

“Finger Lakes Uncorked!” follows the adventures of fictional character Craig Vinholtz, a down-on-his-luck dreamer who lives in the Finger Lakes. He plots to rescue his marriage (and bank account) by winning an organic wine competition.

The project is the outcome of a unique collaboration between the Park Media Lab and several community organizations.   Fifty Ithaca College students, staff, faculty, and alumni from five departments worked with a dozen community organizations and businesses to produce the nine-part series.

The series showcases popular destinations including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Museum of the Earth, and wineries and restaurants in the region. The spectacular natural beauty of the Finger Lakes provides a dynamic backdrop for this series that stars David Moreland, Erica Steinhagen, Cynthia Henderson, and Tyrone Mitchell Henderson.

Park Productions is part of the Park Media Lab at Ithaca College. Students, faculty, and industry professionals collaborate on interdisciplinary media projects that engage local and international audiences. The Park Media Lab frequently partners with government agencies, private industry, and higher education institutions on documentaries, fiction films, television programs, and web-based media.
