For a detailed description of each cabinet position, please see below:
Marketing: The three marketing chairs will be responsible for all marketing and advertising that goes out from the Senior Class. This will include the Web Chair, who will be in charge of updating and maintaining the Senior Class website, the Social Media Chair, who will oversee the use of the Senior Class Twitter and Facebook accounts, and the Print Media Chair, who will be in charge of all printed materials, including posters, mailers, and handouts distributed through the Senior Class.
Merchandising: The merchandising chair will be primarily responsible for the design and distribution of all Senior Class merchandise. The beauty of this position is that the chair has the freedom to decide what merchandise to put up for sale, what it will look like, and colors and styles. They will work very closely with whatever distributor they decide to go through, as well as the Web Chair in order to integrate the Senior Class store into our website.
Finance: The finance chair will work directly under the Senior Class treasurer and act as financial consultants for the different committees. They will be heavily involved in the budgeting process throughout the year, particularly when it comes time for certain events. The person chosen to take on this position will also work very closely with the Senior Class advisor, Jen Walsh, as well as the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs.
Historian: The historian will serve as the Senior Class photographer and videographer, with the assistance of two Junior historians to be assigned at the beginning of the academic year by the chair of the committee. The historian will oversee the creation of the memory book as well as coordinating the Senior Class portraits. Historians will be required to attend a variety of events both on and off campus.
Giving Back: The chairs of this committee will work closely with the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs to develop and highlight various service opportunities for Seniors to become involved with. Typically, the chairs will coordinate participation in service saturdays, getting together a Relay For Life team, and really make the Senior Class a known presence and show how we can give back to the community that has done so much for us as students already.
Special Events: The special events chair works throughout the semester to work on large-scale events put on by the Senior Class. Events in the past have included Mr and Miss Ithaca, and the Black and White Formal, among other events throughout the year. Next year, the special events chairs will work throughout the summer and the very beginning of the year to put together Mr and Miss Ithaca, which will be happening at the very beginning of October for the first time. For this position, we are looking for someone with event management and design experience, though this is not a requirement. **It is preferable that one if not both of the chairs will be in Ithaca over the summer, though it is not required**
On Going Events: The on going events chairs will be responsible for small scale events held throughout the year to engage and unite the Senior Class. In the past, many of these events have included bar nights and happy hours, though we are looking to expand upon this. We would like to break the mold of these traditional events and begin to reach out to students in a different way. With this position comes a lot of freedom to design and create custom events.
Senior Connection: Senior Connection works very closely with career services in making sure Seniors are aware of all networking and career service events. The chair of this committee will also have the ability to design and put together their own events. It is their job to make sure that we are constantly working to prepare Seniors for life post graduation and open them up to opportunities and experiences that will help them with this process.
Senior Cards: **It is preferable that the two chairs of this committee WILL BE IN ITHACA FOR THE SUMMER. A lot of the work for the Senior Cards is done throughout the summer, though it is an on going process** The chairs of this committee will work with local businesses and organizations to negotiate deals associated with the Senior Card. You will be working a lot with contracts and outside organizations, so it is important that the person in this position be very organized and have a good sense of what the Senior Class will find appealing in a Senior Card promotion.
**PLEASE NOTE: These positions are subject to change. We could add or take away positions depending on what we decide we are looking for or how much work we are anticipating throughout the year. There is no set number to how many chairs we will accept for each position, so please APPLY FOR EVERY POSITION THAT YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN. Based on this information, and with your approval upon selection, we as an Executive Staff will decide where you are best suited**
