Updates on outreach and awareness strategies tied to alcohol abuse and underage drinking will be the focus of a public forum on Thursday, April 28, from 7–8:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, at the corner of Court and Aurora Streets in downtown Ithaca. The forum is sponsored by the Campus-Community Coalition, a group led by staff from Cornell University, Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College that works collaboratively on shared challenges and interests.

Joseph Cheng, an associate professor in the School of Business, will open the gathering with brief remarks about his own family’s tragedy. His daughter Victoria, an Ithaca High School graduate and freshman at Ithaca College, died unexpectedly in February.

Brief presentations about programs and strategies within the Ithaca City School District, Cornell, Ithaca College, and TC3 will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Local community organizations and offices will also be on hand to distribute literature and to serve as a resource on questions, if needed.

In addition to plentiful on-street and garage parking, the nearby United Way of Tompkins County (313 N. Aurora St.) and First Church of Christ, Scientist (101 University Ave.) are graciously letting attendees use their parking lots.
