Attention wind and percussion players: Looking for a way to keep your "chops" in shape this summer without a huge time commitment? Summer Band may be just the thing!
Ithaca College Summer Band is an elective graduate level summer course that can be taken by anyone with extensive experience on a primary wind or percussion instrument. The option exists to take the course for credit, but may also be taken simply for the fun of music-making with no registration required!
The time commitment is relatively minimal: the Band meets every Monday and Wednesday evening from 5:15-6:50 in the School of Music between 5 July and 3 August with a culminating concert the evening of 3 August. Selected repertoire will be based on the number of players, but will reflect a bias toward Music Education related literature and works that are useable in high-quality high school programs.
There are currently vacancies in EVERY instrument area and all interested parties are encouraged to send correspondence to Prof. Drew Benware at abenware@ithaca.edu at your earliest convenience to secure a spot. At that point, known conflicts can be communicated.
Give some thought to joining today, and encourage your friends to do the same! What a great way to spend a couple of Ithaca evenings each week - making great music together!
