The St. PCP celebrates the era of Schoenberg's Society for Private Musical Performance in both spirit and substance. Arnold Schoenberg’s private concert series from 1918-1922, the Verein Für Musikalische Privataufführungen in Wien, presented a dramatically eclectic group of works, including some of the most important works of the early 20th century.

The concerts — some 353 performances from 1918 to 1922 — were performed for society members only; critics were forbidden to attend. The St. PCP recreates the intention, intimacy and dramatic intensity of these concerts with works arranged by Schoenberg (Mahler and Debussy), Reinbert de Leeuw's arrangement of Mahler's Kindertotenlieder, and the early Schoenberg masterpiece Chamber Symphony No. 1.

PROGRAM
Debussy/Schoenberg: Prelude to an Afternoon of a Faun
Mahler/Schoenberg Songs of a Wayfarer
Mahler/de Leeuw: Kindertotenlieder
Schoenberg: Chamber Symphony No.1, op.9 (Kammersymphonie)
