Seniors Eric Keto and Corinne Colgan co-directed “Carried Away” a 13-minute documentary profiling backyard inventor, artist and world-record holding hot-air-balloon pilot Brian Boland.

The film won the Audience Choice Award at the Visions Film Festival held at UNC-Wilmington in April. It also screened at the Reality Bytes Independent Student Film Festival at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois and received the festival’s top documentary award.

“Carried Away” was recently accepted into the Long Island International Film Expo, and will screen on July 10 at Bellmore Movies in Bellmore, NY.

While working on the film, Keto and Colgan traveled four times to visit Boland at his airport/workshop/museum/home in Post Mills, VT. “The documentary is funny and lighthearted, but addresses the larger issues of creativity and a life's work,” said Colgan. “The teaser we've been using is: ‘Some people say he's crazy. Others call him a genius. Follow backyard inventor and world record hot air balloon pilot Brian Boland on his next great adventure.’"

The film was produced in Fall 2010 as part of Prof. John Scott's Video Workshop class.
