Susan Waterbury, Associate Professor of Violin and Chamber Music, returned for the 10th year to perform chamber music with musicians from all over the world at the Deia International Music Festival in Mallorca, Spain in early July. Many of the same musicians return each year to play together and the presenter has named the group, Camerata Deia.
In addition to the founding Camerata Deia members, new musicians are invited each year. This summer, the American cello soloist and chamber musician, Zuill Bailly, attended. And a Russian violist living in Holland, an American violinist living in Paris, a Spanish pianist, double bassist, and violist, an American cellist and soprano, and Waterbury, violinist from Ithaca College were all working together. Needless to say, in addition to Spanish and English, there was Russian, French, Dutch, German, Danish, and Catalan languages spoken within the group.
The concerts took place in a beautiful "castle" overlooking the Mediterranean Sea from the Spanish Island of Mallorca and in an Art Museum, Pallao Marche, in the capital city of Palma, Mallorca.
