WICB's "axe and amp" raffle at the Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance generated $572 for Loaves and Fishes.

The Washburn electric guitar and Laney amplifier were donated by Eric Laine and McNeil Music of Ithaca.

Despite the withering heat, the WICB staff set up the booth and sold raffle tickets for all four days of the festival at $1.00 each, or 6 for $5.00. Student Station Manager Darren McGee and DJ Ryan Cluett drew the winning ticket Sunday night before a large crowd on the infield stage. Ken Ficara of Ithaca and Brooklyn had the winning ticket.

On Tuesday, July 26, the check was presented to Christina Culver, the Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes. Culver says the money will be used to purchase large floor fans to keep the dining room cool. Loaves and Fishes of Tompkins County is located in St. John's Episcopal Church and provides a place for free meals, hospitality, companionship, and advocacy for those in need, regardless of their faith, beliefs, or circumstances.
