Michael Twomey, Professor of English and Dana Professor of Humanities and Arts, delivered a paper at the XXIIIrd Congress of the International Arthurian Society, in Bristol, UK, on July 25th, 2011.

The paper, titled "Sir Gawain and the Green World," formed part of a panel on environmental criticism of the legend of King Arthur. In his paper, Twomey explored the role of forest ecology in the popular medieval romance Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.  An expanded version of the paper will appear in a special issue of the journal Arthurian Literature next year.
