IC Students Can Move In Early

Because of Hurricane Irene and its possible effects along the East Coast of the United States, Ithaca College will allow new and returning students to begin moving into their campus residences early. Residence halls will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, one day earlier than previously scheduled for students. There is no need to seek approval for an early check-in, nor will there be any additional charge.

For more information, visit www.ithaca.edu/movein/. Refer to the Early Arrival section for Saturday check-in locations. Campus meal plans will be active as of Saturday, and the Campus Center and Terrace Dining Halls will be open. The ID Office, located on the third floor of Campus Center, has added hours and will be open from 1–5 p.m. on Saturday.

While the Ithaca area may not be greatly affected by Hurricane Irene, rain will likely begin on Saturday night and continue through Sunday, with possible high winds. Additionally, those traveling to campus may be coming from and through areas impacted by the weather.

All move-in services, hours and locations will be available on Sunday as previously scheduled. Those who are able to safely travel to and arrive on campus on Sunday are requested to do so. Since classes do not begin until Wednesday, both incoming and returning students also have the option of waiting until Monday or Tuesday to move in.

We ask that everyone please be patient and understanding as the college endeavors to accommodate this highly unusual circumstance.

The Office of Residential Life, located in the lobby area of the East Tower, will be open 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. If you have specific questions, you can contact the office at (607) 274-3141.
