A Message from the Office of Public Safety
Welcome students! In addition to the legal updates message from Brian McAree, Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life, which contains important information related to campus safety, security, and emergency preparedness and response, we encourage you to visit the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety website at https://www.ithaca.edu/sacl/safety/ for various publications and information specific to crime prevention and education, crime reporting and disclosure, fire safety, emergency management, and policies and procedures related to same. We are also releasing a revised Emergency Readiness and Response Guide which can be viewed and downloaded from our website and will be mailed to all students, faculty and staff.
With this notice we also encourage every member of our campus community to view our reoccurring message on Gorge Safety at https://www.ithaca.edu/sacl/safety/docs/gorgesafety.pdf
Finally, we would like to promote the use of the new pedestrian walkway that leads from Lyceum Drive to the intersection of Coddington Road and Hudson Street. The walkway will be fully functional within the next couple of weeks, to include lighting and emergency (blue light) call boxes strategically located for direct two-way communication with the Office of Public Safety (24/7, year round). We expect that you will find this enhancement to be a great means for traversing safely from the campus to the Hudson Street area. At the same time we remind students traveling through the nearby communities to be mindful of our neighbors who recognize us as respectful, conscientious and civic-minded neighbors.
On behalf of the Office of Public Safety we wish you a safe and successful semester.
