With subscriptions to all six productions available for as little as $30, Ithaca College Theatre will kick off a new season of exciting new drama, the best dance moves, and a little magic with its October production of Barbara Lebow’s “Plumfield, Iraq.’ Directed by Cynthia Henderson, the drama provides an unflinching look at the havoc a distant military conflict wreaks on small-town American life.

The season will continue with the fall musical “The Light in the Piazza,” written by Craig Lucas with music and lyrics by Adam Guettel (“Floyd Collins”) and directed by Susannah Berryman. The love story is set in Italy and based on a novella by Elizabeth Spencer. Wrapping up 2011, presented only once every four years, will be “Illuminated Bodies,” a dance concert representing many different dance traditions and featuring the choreography of the Department of Theatre Art’s dance faculty.

The New Year starts with the School of Music and Theatre Arts collaborating to bring Mozart’s beloved opera, “The Magic Flute,” to stage. The spring musical is “Working,” written by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso and based on Studs Terkel’s classic portrait of the American worker. The season concludes with Shakespeare’s dark comedy of sexual mores and hypocrisy, “Measure for Measure.”
