Healthy Living for Musicians will host a Pathways training session especially for music students on Tuesday, September 13th at 6:15 PM in Hockett Family Recital Hall. This session is required for all freshmen to attend, but all School of Music students are invited to attend this session as well.

Pathways is a program offered by the Ithaca College Office of Counseling and Psychological Services. This mental health crisis prevention and intervention program teaches students to identify a potential mental health crisis, initiate a conversation with someone at risk, ask directly about suicidal thoughts, and make referrals to appropriate resources.

The School of Music will be the first school at the college to have all of their incoming students complete the Pathways program. Because college-life and being a music major can bring unexpected stresses, the School of Music is looking forward to having students trained to help their friends and themselves. The School of Music would like to thank the Office of Counseling and Psychological Services, especially Paul Mikowski, for their collaboration, partnership, and enthusiasm to bring this program to fruition.

School of Music students are encouraged to participate in these sessions to begin and continue healthy ways of dealing with stress, time management, and performance anxiety, which are a foundation to a happy and successful career.
