The student organization Project Generations is looking for older adults in the Ithaca area that are in need of assistance and could benefit from a friendly visiting serve.
Through collaboration with Tompkins County Office for the Aging, Project Generations pairs students with older adults in the Ithaca area for one-on-one friendly visiting. During one hour weekly visits, volunteers help to fulfill seniors’ personal and functional needs through providing companionship, mental stimulation, light housework, and respite for caregivers. All volunteers are screened and trained prior to their visits. The mission of the organization is to enrich older adults’ and volunteers’ lives through bridging the gap between generations. If you may know of someone that could benefit from this program, please contact icprojectgenerations@gmail.com and make direct referrals to Aging Services Specialist Katrina Schickel at the Tompkins County Office for the Aging at (607) 274-5482.
