Tish Oney, jazz singer

Robert G. Boehmler Community Foundation Concert

Dr. Tish Oney, vocalist, arranger, pianist, composer and Artistic Director of several internationally-touring productions including her brand new 'Sweet Youth' tour (celebrating the spring 2011 release of her new duo album with guitarist John Chiodini), 'The Peggy Lee Project,' 'The Van Heusen Show,' 'Jazz Seasons,' 'Tish Oney's Big Band Excursion,' 'Tish Oney's Swingin' Christmas, 'An Evening With Tish Oney,' and 'A Journey Through Holy Week with J.S. Bach,' completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at The University of Southern California's renowned Thornton School of Music.

'The Peggy Lee Project,' resulting from Oney's dissertation research, features Dr. Oney's updated, contemporary jazz arrangements of original songs by Peggy Lee to the delight of both young and seasoned audiences. Tish's collaboration with Lee's former music director and guitarist, John Chiodini and his talented jazz trio has produced this unparalleled tribute to an important twentieth-century American female songwriter.

Ying Quartet

The Ying Quartet occupies a position of exclusive prominence in the classical music world, combining brilliantly communicative performances with a fearlessly imaginative view of chamber music in today's world.  Famous for their extraordinary, adventurous repertoire, the Yings' ongoing "LifeMusic" commissioning project has greatly expanded the rich string quartet literature.  The Ying Quartet is quartet-in-residence at the Eastman School of Music.
