Harbingers foreshadow a future event and announce an early sensitivity of change. These sculptures reflect the moment when change is apparent. Metaphorically they represent environmental issues which can be traced to human action or reaction. Change is inevitable and futility abounds. They are not meant to critique specific events but stir reflection on the environment and the role we play.
Bill Hastings is a 1992 Ithaca College graduate and Assistant Professor in the Department of Art.
