The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) recently awarded Ithaca College’s student chapter with the “Region 1 Chapter of the Year Award” at the SPJ/RTDNA National Conference in September. SPJ also recognized the chapter’s adviser, Mead Loop, with the David L. Eshelman Outstanding Campus Advisor Award.
Executive board members Carly Gill ’13, Maya Kachroo-Levine ’13, Julianne Feller ’13 and Kera Schulze ’13 were in attendance to receive the award (pictured).
The David L. Eshelman Outstanding Campus Advisor Award is given to individuals who have contributed to their chapters and the national organization over an extended period of time. Loop, an associate professor in the Department of Journalism, founded Ithaca College’s chapter of SPJ in 1994, and under his leadership, IC SPJ has received consistent national and regional recognition.
SPJ is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior.
