As part of our IC Respect campaign, the Office of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs is sponsoring a program to help students address certain incidences through bystander intervention. This program is also a part of the Student Leadership Institute. Interested? Here's the details:

Program Title: Stand Up for One Another!

When: Wednesday, November 9th at 7pm

Where: Williams 225

Description from the presenters:

Many students are influenced by the presence of their peers and this plays a factor in how an individual may act, think and feel.  Students face a multitude of situations where bystander intervention would be an appropriate means of addressing issues.  How do you teach others to take action and stand up for one another?  This session will review the reasons for bystander behavior and provide guidelines for how to introduce this idea on your campus by helping individuals act in ways that are more congruent with their values and ideals.  Learn how to capture student interest and the power of peer influence through a creating a circle of caring on your campus and in the surrounding community.

Individuals with disabilities requiring an alternative arrangement to access this program should contact Samantha Gabel at 274-3300 or sgabel@ithaca.edu. Requests should be made with as much advance notice as possible.
