Calling all Tennis players at Ithaca College: Join the Squash club!

11/22/11

Contributed by Bradley Kolodner

It's hard to play tennis when the temperatures are below freezing and there is snow on the ground. That's why you should learn to play squash and join the squash club! Squash is a fast-paced racquet sport similar to tennis but played on a four-walled indoor court. Our club has a number of converted tennis players who now love playing squash. We're looking for new members with or without previous experience. A racquet sport background helps but isn't required. Our club is mix of total beginners and experienced players.

Email IthacaSquash@gmail.com to learn more!

We can teach you how to play! We practice two times a week at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell (~5 minutes from IC). We carpool to practice. Our practices are held from 8:00-10:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. We can provide equipment for you to borrow.

If you don't know what squash is, it's a fast-paced sport similar to racquetball that's played indoors against a wall with a racket and a ball. To learn more about the sport, here is a link to a video explaining what squash is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gQsAKZ71tU

Here's a link to our sport club website that has more info about our club: https://www.ithaca.edu/sacl/recsports/sport_clubs/performance_recreational/squash.php

If you would like to come to a practice, please email us at Ithacasquash@gmail.com

We're also looking for any faculty members with squash experience to help out in any fashion if you're interested.
