Will I lose any files on my computer in the migration process?

Nope you shouldn't.

I am not sure whether you are on a Mac or a PC but we have identified a process that migrates the local profile for the guardian (primary user) of the machine. So, for example, many Mac users use the "user" account and their data and preferences (background, desktop, documents etc) are stored in this profile. We migrate this "user" profile to the new profile, in my case, alee. Then when I log in using alee, all of my "stuff" is there.

We are still recommending that you back up your files as a best practice. We haven't lost any data yet, knock on wood, but this still is technology and anything can happen! Hope this answers your question, if not ask again.
